ABOUT SYNOPSIS and SPIRES

“SYNOPSIS” is literally a synopsis of our upcoming EP “SPIRES”, set to release on JUNE 7TH. It’s not a separate song off of the EP, but rather a sneak peak behind the curtains of what the EP will have in store for you.

“Spires” touches on the story of Axamenta’s 2006 concept album “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture” and delves into the life of Father Harold O’Callahan, a priest in 19th century London tormented by guilt over his brother Benjamin’s tragic fate. Haunted by remorse, he joins the clergy in an attempt to absolve himself.  During the apotheosis of the “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture” story, Harold finds himself atop the spires of his church, plagued by the harrowing shifts in reality. Questioning his faith and the nature of the horrors he witnesses. Harold now faces a critical choice: to seek redemption in his faith or relinquish it along with his guilt and identity. The narrative juxtaposes personal guilt with cosmic conflict, culminating in Harold’s existential struggle atop the spires, torn between salvation and self-obliteration.

About AxamentA

2006 – “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture” album

In 2006, AxamentA released their widely praised album “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture”, an intricate concept album containing 13 tracks of blackened progressive metal, substantiated by a massive sounding symphonic orchestra, giving the entire album its eerie, cinematic atmosphere.

Sparing no effort, the album was recorded at Jacob Hansen Studio, mixed at Studio Fredman, mastered at The Mastering Room and featured none other than Pain of Salvation’s Daniel Gildenlöw on guest vocals.

The commitment of the band paid off. The album was re-released in Japan, the famous Dutch Aardschok magazine proclaimed Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture as the first ever Belgian “Album of the month”, and AxamentA played the Graspop Metal Meeting twice, first in 2005 and headlining the Belgian Metalstage in 2006.

2008 – Hibernation

After 2008, due to health issues, the band went into hibernation. The members spread their musical talents far and wide, only to come back together 14 years later. Notably the main songwriter started working for Hollywood trailer campaigns, providing music to blockbusters like “Old” (2021), “Prey” (2022) and “The Pope’s Exorcist” (2023). This later gave the band a unique skillset to immerse listeners in a captivating voyage through multiple layers of emotions and sonic exploration.

2024 – “SPIRES” EP

AxamentA is revisiting their “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture” concept universe, with a more modern progressive slant, laced with a bone-chilling, organic horror atmosphere. A 23-minute track, divided in 7 acts, picks up where they left “Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture”. “SPIRES” dives deeper into vocal harmonies, musical storytelling, and all-round cinematic atmosphere than ever before, aiming to push the boundaries of modern metal and challenge the conventional norms.
